The Stunning Bride

Working with bride’s like Adebola… truly makes my life complete. I know it sounds crazy or maybe corny, but it is because of brides like her that I am able to do what I love. It was a pleasure working with her as her calm personality set the mood for the serene atmosphere. She and her bridal party were soo much fun to work with. They all had great personalities and were super accomplished. Also, a big shout out and many thanks to Tope as she was the perfect makeup assistant on this day. Now on to the pictures…below are some images we captured as the bridal party got ready:

A Before and After of the Stunning Bride

As always, I would like to mention the Lavish Salon for doing an amazing job with the bride’s thick beautiful natural hair. The wedding took place at the Duke Chapel and their fabulous reception took place at the uber cool wedding location, The Cotton Room.

The fabulous story-telling images below were captured by the super talented Photographer Jameka Autry of Paper Hearts Weddings (you can click on the images for a more detailed look):

The Sophisticated Bride

When Latoya told me she wanted a smokey eye for her wedding, I immediately knew she would be a sophisticated bride. She is striking with or without makeup…so when I brought out a smokey eyeshadow palette and airbrushed her foundation, we just enhanced her already pretty face. She and her mother looked beautiful and were a pleasure to work with.

I would like to mention the Lavish Salon for doing an amazing job with the bride and mother of the bride’s hair. And last but not least, her attentive wedding planner, Amanda Scott of A Swanky Affair, did a great job planning the whole event. Below are two images from her blog. Please check out her blog HERE for more images of the classy wedding. All the pictures were taken at the couple’s uber cool wedding location, The Cotton Room.

THE SMOKEY EYE…Your Way

One of the top requested looks I get from my clients is the smokey eye look. I personally love the smokey eye, because you can make it your own. You can mix it with bold colors or just keep in neutral with browns and blacks tones. It also looks great paired up with nude lips or with bright lips…. you can really do whatever you like.

Below are some before and after pictures of two models I worked with recently. The two looks are completely different but both have a smokey touch. The first look is more traditional with black and browns. For the second look I used bronze and purples to achieve the smokey look.

After, with Smokey Eyes

Another look...

To achieve the smokey eye  look on this model, I used the following items:

Eyes:

NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Black Bean  (all over lower lids)

MAC in Carbon (on lids and under waterline)

Barbie Loves MAC in Beautyburst  (in crease, mixed with some Carbon eyeshadow)

Vanilla Pigment (to highlight the brow bone)

L’Oreal Hip Color Truth Cream Eyeliner w/ angled brush (to line her eyes and waterline)

Mac Eye Kohl Pencil in Smolder  (in waterline, to intensify look)

Cover Girl Lash Blast Mascara

I also worked with the beautiful Nolana at a photoshoot. I had so much fun and she is a pleasure to work with it.

Nolana's before picture...looking cute.

Nolana, after...looking FIERCE!

Close up on her eyes, after taking it up a notch.... Smoking!

I achieved her smokey eye look with the following items:

Eyes:

MAC in Bold and Brazen (inner lids)

Ben Nye in Cosmic Violet and Amethyst (middle of lids)

Tara Orekelewa Eyeshadow in Dark Purple (outer “V” and crease)

Pro MUA Gold Dust (to highlight the brow bone)

Liquid eyeliner

Red Cherry Lashes in # 113
