She just interrupted my regularly scheduled programming.

Beyonce looks amazing! In fact, in makes no sense that she looks this fabulous 30 days after giving birth to her daughter, Blue Ivy Carter.  She motivates me to get on my grind again.

Her whole look is on fire…from her hair, to her minimalist makeup, to her shoe game.

There is no point talking about how great Chris Brown’s performance was or how passionately Adele sang at the show last night, because Beyonce stole the show. In retrospect, her baby glow was evident throughout her performance of  “Love on top”. Congrats to her and Jay-Z!!!

I love her makeup, especially the subtle coral lips which complimented her dress perfectly.

Tradition, Remixed: The New Gele?

Some call them Turbans, some call them Headwraps or Headties …whatever you want to call them, this trend seems to be the new thing. Turbans take inspiration from traditional Nigerian culture, in which a Gele is worn to complete a woman’s traditional attire. Geles are headwraps created by tying a long and wide fabric (usually fabric with body, like Aso oke or Damask) around a lady’s head, to create an amazing piece of art. When I have on a Gele I feel regal. They bring focus to the eyes and the facial structure of the face, because traditionally all your hair should be covered with the headwrap. In the image below, I am in the process of tying a Gele for the beautiful Ashlee.

With that being said, the new trend inspired by the Gele is a matter of taste. I personally love the trend and I think it is a great way to add interest to an outfit. Check out how this trend is being rocked by some of my favorite people:

Everyone has different opinions about Beyoncé, but whatever they are, you have to give it to her…she is a great entertainer and the ultimate definition of a “hard worker”. I admire that about her.

I enjoyed reading this article by April Long of Elle. Beyoncé shares some of her beauty secrets and more. Pretty interesting stuff!! She talks about why she does her own makeup and what she really thinks about the Master Cleanse. Check out the article.

I love her lip color in this picture. I would use MAC Russian Red Lipstick to achieve this look.
