Where have you been?? Okay, Okay…Let’s RECAP!!

Hello Guys,

Happy July 4th!!!

I am not sure if I should just act like nothing happened **covers face in shame** or address my absence? For the sake of transparency, I have decided to share. I have been gone for a minute due to a hectic work schedule, personal commitments and a lack of inspiration, but now I am back and I am excited to share about my passion. It is ironic, because I thought about this blog a lot while I was gone and the direction I want to take the blog. I started this blog almost four years ago, and I have changed so much…for one, I am older and I have also matured as an artist. I will still use this space to express myself and share on the topic of makeup, but I want to make sure I am posting what I am truly passionate about and what you guys want to see.

So, let me update you…and let’s start from the last time I was here:

2012 was both amazing and busy. I want to take a moment to reflect on all the great things that happened last year with my Makeup Artistry. I continued to hone my skills. I partook in photoshoots, worked with many fabulous women, was part of a successful makeup seminar in Lagos, attended the makeup show in NYC, trained with Temptu (and I am now an Airbrush Certified Makeup Artist) and I met many amazing makeup artists in my travels. Last but not least, I was able to provide makeup services for many of my lovely brides’ on their special day.

One such bride, was Dale, who got married last year. She is one of my favorite brides to date. I was referred to her by lovely sister who owns Kenjah Bath and Body. The moment I met her, I knew we would be a perfect match. I have to say, she has such an amazing spirit. Her wedding was Chic!!! The ambiance of the location and the feeling in the air was what I like to call “Grown and Sexy”. I loved her dress as it was unique and simple. Her whole bridal party was so much fun to work with. I am blessed be able to work with wonderful people like them.

On to 2013…so far this year has been super busy and interesting. 2013 started out on a great note…We won the WeddingWire Bride’s Choice Awards™ 2013 and it was such a great feeling. This prestigious award recognizes the top five percent of Wedding Professionals nationwide. Thanks to all my beautiful brides…thanks for choosing me to be part of your special day!

Beauty Inside and Out…

“It’s time to have a marked difference of appearance. Shine boldly beautiful from the inside out because of what is inside of you”

-Inspirational Words of the day from Cindy

I am truly a believer that what’s going on inside can sometimes manifest physically. I have been really busy and stressed lately, but I know I am blessed. I just have to put things in perspective. Sometimes, when I am not feeling soo good, the act of putting on makeup helps to prepare me for the day. In a way, it is like getting ready to face any “battles” that may occur throughout the day. But some days, makeup just doesn’t do it… that is why one has to make sure your internal well-being is addressed and nurtured at all times. One’s appearance to the world stems from within. So, face today knowing the world can see how beautiful you are with or without makeup.

Random: I was looking through some of my old archives of images from my past photoshoots and I came across this image. Ashlee is such a beautiful woman. In this image, you see her was making a funny face while I was fixing her Gele. But I still think her beauty is reflected, inside and out. I love a person with a great sense of humor. Seeing this image today, made me laugh all over again. I wanted to share this image to let anyone who is reading this know; that beauty is in the eye of the beholder and your beauty mostly manifest from within.

Thots,

Hello world!

Lately I have been thinking of ways to share my thoughts, passion and love for makeup, skincare and beauty. I figured a blog would be the perfect venue to let my ideas run free. A little about me: I am a Makeup Artist based in North Carolina…you can view my work here. I’m inspired by everyday things, everyday colors. I love to recreate looks while adding my own personal twists. One of the best feelings in the world is when I’m done with a “face” and I take a step back and love the look on the model. I just love that feeling. Ohh yeah… love has to be my favorite word…seeing I have used it a million times already.

Future blog entries will include makeup looks, beauty tips, FAQ, giveaways…etc. I will try my best to be consistent with my entries, at least one or two entries a week. So far I already love blogging, Yo!!! I know, a little premature for my first entry, lol. My goal with this blog is to meet like minded people and to reach as many people as possible.

I would like to thank my husband, family and friends who have been soo supportive as I pursue my dreams. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions, ideas or features for future blog entries. I can tell you now…this blog might be a little random, but join me as I embark on this journey.

Thots,
