The Sophisticated Bride
When Latoya told me she wanted a smokey eye for her wedding, I immediately knew she would be a sophisticated bride. She is striking with or without makeup…so when I brought out a smokey eyeshadow palette and airbrushed her foundation, we just enhanced her already pretty face. She and her mother looked beautiful and were a pleasure to work with.
I would like to mention the Lavish Salon for doing an amazing job with the bride and mother of the bride’s hair. And last but not least, her attentive wedding planner, Amanda Scott of A Swanky Affair, did a great job planning the whole event. Below are two images from her blog. Please check out her blog HERE for more images of the classy wedding. All the pictures were taken at the couple’s uber cool wedding location, The Cotton Room.

L.I.F.T = Look I’m Feeling Today!!
Serena Williams is one of my favorite athletes. Her intensity for her sport gives me life. Working hard is what she does, no excuses. As soon as I saw these images of her, as she headed to The Late Show With David Letterman, I knew I had to share them with you guys. She looked amazing in this red dress. Again, her stylists and makeup artist hit it out of the park!!!

Makeup & Hygiene in Nigeria
I met Gbemisola, the owner of Hegai & Esther Makeup Tool Store, while I was in Lagos earlier this year at the Excellence in the Industry Seminar for Makeup Artists. During the seminar, I spoke about makeup hygiene and changes that needed to be made in the industry. Inspired by the seminar, she started a campaign for improved hygiene and sanitation practices among Makeup Artists in Nigeria. I couldn’t be happier about this because I think this is a very important and necessary topic.
If you are a makeup artist based in Nigeria or you just need to pick up disposable and sanitation products to stock up your makeup kit, you can contact her here or here.
Check out images from the Excellence in the Industry Seminar 2012, HERE. It was an amazing day and I am soo proud to have been part of this successful event with the super talented Lolade Ogunjimi of Dainty Affairs Beauty. For me, meeting the inspiring and successful speakers, as well as all the makeup artists that attended was the highlight of the seminar.
Where Music and Beauty Meet…
The video for Brandy’s new single “Put It Down” (featuring Chris Brown) is giving me life right now. Brandy’s dancing is…on point, her makeup is…on point, her braids are…on point. Am done!!! lol.

LIFT: 2012 BET Awards
Hey Guys!!!
I had to drop off my thoughts about the 2012 BET Awards. Ironically, the same things I liked about the BET award show last year are the same things I enjoyed about the show this past Sunday. I loved “The Real Husbands of Hollywood” skit. I am so glad they are making it into a full fledged show. Sign me up…I know it will be hilarious. And, wow…the Whitney Houston tribute was soo touching.
Two years in a row, my favorite artists were the winners of the Best International Act (Africa) category. Congrats to Wizkid! Check out two of my favorite songs of the moment by Wizkid.
For the past few years, Monica’s style has been right up my alley. She looked amazing on the red carpet. That structured blazer and the sequined pants were everything! Sexy but classy all at the same time and of course her makeup and hair was on point as usual.

Any thoughts from the 2012 BET Awards?

Beauty…
I wanted to share some images from a photoshoot I had the pleasure of being part of this past weekend. The photographer, Kimberly of Kimberly Joy Photography is talented at what she does. I love the images she captured and I am excited about us working together in the future.

On beautiful Jasmine’s eyes, I used the new eyeshadow palette from the MAC Reel Sexy Collection called Dynamic Duo 4. I love the matte, yet highly pigmented texture of the eyeshadows in this particular palette. On her lips, I used Up The Amp lipstick by MAC.
What are your favorite eyeshadow and lip colors this spring?
