My ICONIC Series: Diahann Carroll

To continue with Recreating Icons…My Iconic Series; I have a few more images from the photoshoot in January 2010 to share with you. Who remembers Ms. Diahann Carroll in the movie Claudine? Me, me, me!! I loved her in that movie. And then in the TV Series Dynasty. Wasn’t she the best?

Apart from her obvious beauty and talent as an actor…back then she brought an innocent quality to every role she touched. This is our interpretation of the young Diahann Carroll. She turned 75 years old this year, but I think she is forever young!!!

L.I.F.T = Look I’m Feeling Today!!

The 2010 Soul Train Awards took place yesterday in Atlanta (The show will air on November 28). As I was watching CNN this morning, Wolf Blitzer was talking about his surprise on the show while he presented an award last night. Since I missed the show, I thought to check out the images. I came across these images below of Chrisette Michele. She is someone who I think has a beautifully unique voice and a very pretty face, but for some reason she hasn’t really been on my radar (well until I watched the video for Rick Ross’s song, Aston Martin Music a few weeks ago, lol). Anyways, I loved her whole look last night and I wanted to share the images here. Her headwrap reminds me of a Gele… which I will be talking about in an upcoming blog entry.

What do you think of her look? Who was your stand out person of the night?

My Girlfriend’s Wedding

My college bestie, Keesha, got married Labor day weekend. The wedding weekend was soo much fun and the wedding day was magical. I danced my heart out!! I was a bridesmaid and also had the pleasure doing her makeup. We met a lot of amazing people and I also had a chance to do the makeup for another bridesmaid, Tonya.

The couple did a great job making sure all their guests were entertained. I wish Keesha and Jared a wonderful life together. I feel privileged to have been part of your special day!

Bridal Beauty Tip of the Day:

Keesha had an outdoor wedding, so I made accommodations to match the location. When getting married outdoors, sunlight can make a naked face look washed-out, especially against a background of strong greens. I made sure I added color to her face in the form of bronzers and highlighters. I also made sure her face was properly primed and set with a setting powder to ensure her makeup did not move!

Below are some images from her wedding day:
